The Music Room is a small, independent practice space. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. Here is everything the site handles, in plain English.
Your microphone
Akaar stability listens only after you press Start listening and allow microphone access. Your voice is analysed entirely on your device to estimate its pitch. It is never recorded, stored or uploaded. Listening stops when you press Stop or leave the page.
Tanpura audio
The original tanpura recordings stay on the private audio server. When you start the tanpura, pluck a string or hear a tanpura note, your browser opens a connection to that server and sends your playback settings: Sa, vocal register, tuning, tempo, volume and similar values. The server mixes the sound and streams the audio back. These settings are used only to render audio for that session and are not stored. Your microphone is never part of this connection.
Settings in your browser
The room remembers your preferences in your browser’s localStorage, on this device only:
music-room:concert:v1: your Sa, tanpura settings, master volume and thememusic-room:metronome:v1: tempo, cycle, sound, theka variation, laya and volumemusic-room:akaar:v1: target swara, saptak and hold goal
Akaar scores and session stats are kept in memory only and disappear when you leave. Nothing in localStorage is sent to any server. Clear this site’s data in your browser to remove it.
Offline cache
To open quickly and work offline, the site keeps a copy of its own pages, styles, scripts and icons in your browser’s cache through a service worker. It never caches audio, recordings or anything about you. Installing the room as an app is optional and uses the same on-device storage.
Cookies
The Music Room itself sets no cookies.
Hosting and network
The site runs on a privately operated server and is delivered through Cloudflare. Like any host or network, they receive the standard technical data your browser sends with each request, such as your IP address and browser type, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie and handles this data under its own privacy policy.
To share audio capacity fairly, the audio server counts open audio connections per IP address in memory and forgets the count when the connection closes. The application keeps no request logs. While the room is open, the page also checks every 30 seconds whether tanpura audio is available; these checks carry no personal information.
No other tracking
There are no analytics, ads, social media pixels, third-party fonts or embeds, or session recording. No personal data is sold, rented or shared.
